Women's Division supports abortion march
At the 2003 Fall Board of Director’s meeting of the Women’s Division, the directors of the Division voted to send $5,000 in support of an April 25, march in Washington, and to be a co-sponsor of this event.  Although two directors voiced concern about this decision, the measure passed.
This document contains articles and responses to this decision and references a web site that can be visited in order to obtain a complete listing of sponsors and co-sponsors, and to read a news release from the National Organization of Women pertaining to this event.

*NATIONAL SEMINAR REPORT: The Women's Division hosts a quadrennial/social advocacy event called the National Seminar.  The 2003 event was first that allowed for press coverage by outside groups. You will want to send for RENEW's press report of the National Seminar which conveys the social and political bias that permeated this meeting.
U.S. policy in the world was criticized repeatedly, and one major presenter said.  "We should not take the Bible to be perfect, but just one of many sacred texts--one no better than the other."

*You may order 2003 National Report by sending $5.00 plus $2.00 Postage to:  RENEW Network, P.O. Box 889 Cornelia, GA 30531, or use the order form on this Web site.   If you prefer, you may call 706-778-4812

CLAIMS &COUNTERCLAIMS
This document was prepared to counter reports that misinformation about the RENEW Network is being circulated at district and conference UMW events, and in UMW district and conference communications to United Methodist Women at the local level.  It is unfortunate that, instead of responding to the documented concerns raised by United Methodist women, the Women’s Division is fueling an attack upon the RENEW Network, Good News and grassroots United Methodists who are a part of these renewal groups.

RENEW prepared analysis of Women's Division "Information Packet"
pertaining to Call for Reform newsletter released by RENEW and UMAction.  "This response is woefully inadequate, and still fails to clearly address the documented concerns of many United Methodist women," says Faye Short, President, RENEW Network. Click HERE.

*CROSSING THE LINE - After all of the conflict within the church about Bishop Joseph Sprague’s deviate theology, his book, “Affirmations of a Dissenter” is being offered under the Spiritual Growth section of the 2005 reading program. This presentation by Dawn Marks, examines it’s contents and suggests ways that your local UMW group can deal with this new area of concern. >click here for PDF copy<
