Report on the 2008 Book of Resolutions
An updated report on the 2008 Book of Resolutions shows that a handful of the boards and agencies in the UMC are responsible for over 75% of this voluminous book.  In the early days of United Methodism, the Book of Resolutions, which is the church's social policy, constituted just 6 pages at the back of our Book of Discipline, which is our book of church law.  Now, the BOR is a separate volume that is over 1000 pages in length and deals with every topic imaginable on every conceivable issue, usually from a politically partisan perspective. The resolutions are considered our official church policy on social issues and their content may surprise many United Methodists. Read the full report here.
